Test for LSD

No, I'm not talking about peeing in a cup, and with apologies to Rush.

How does one tell if their car has a limited slip diff from the factory? I've got an April '05 build MCS that I ordered with LSD. This morning, just for kicks, I jacked up the front wheels and checked for behavior of the wheels with the transmission in neutral and first gear. With the tranny in neutral, I spun one wheel, and the other wheel did not spin. With the tranny in first gear, spinning one wheel caused the other to spin in the opposite direction.

I was under the impression that in the first scenario, both wheels should turn in the same direction, and in the 2nd, the wheels shouldn't turn unless I overcame the friction in the diff.

Could someone with LSD installed repeat this experiment and report the results? I've got a sneaking suspicion that my car doesn't really have LSD.

Was LSD listed on the build sticker?
Or are you thinking you got the wrong transmission build?

Yes, it's listed on the window sticker and on my order sheet. So, I'm wondering if this test is valid, and if so, why my car's not acting like it's got LSD.

Thanks, ofioliti. Still not sure *why* it's the way it is, but at least I'm not losing my mind. Well, not as it relates to this issue, anyway...

not sure if this is because of the LSD, but my feb '05 build with LSD makes a wavy mark if accelerating hard.
