ALTA-nator Pulley

Does anyone have any experience with installation with installing the ALTA-nator pulley? The alternator shaft bolt is there a trick to removing it, left hand thread? Same goes for the 10mm bolt on the end of the shaft?

After more research, I was looking in my Toyota manual it also uses a DENSO alternater. They show a special tool, inner is the 10mm and the outer is hallow fits over the other to loosen the big nut. I shall try an electrical shop. The MINI manual doesn't show any more than R&R.

Part 3
Just got back from the Alternator repair shop. Everthing pretty straight forward. The 10mm hex is the end of the shaft. The nut is normal right hand thread. Now time to reassemble!

What size is the alternator nut?

Did you have to pull the front end to get to it?

I think the nut is 22mm, and yes you do need to pull the modular front end. You also will need the belt tensioner tool. I ended up using a 1/2" air impact to loosen the nut.
Hope that helps!

Thanks. A friend and I attempted this last weekend and gave up because we could not figure how to keep the pulley from spinning and did not know the thread direction.

You said you used an impact wrench. how did you keep the pulley from spinning?

To remove the old pulley you can stick it in a vice. Sense you won't be using it again, soft jaws or wood also work. A good strap wrench will hold enough for a impact wrench. The local altanator shop can do the job as well!
