track day prep

track day coming up soon does anybody recommend a coolant flush,
there is 36k miles on her and as far as I know never been changed,
so what is the correct mix 50/50 water/antifreeze?
also where is the coolant bleed point?

Yes, definately torque the wheel bolts. You also will want to check the brake pads. The last thing you want is to run out of pad when your diving into a corner while quickly closing in on that expensive car in front of you!

I would also suggest bringing a second set of brake pads with you. You never know how much brake you can go through until you do it. It is better safe than sorry!! Obviously, bring enough tools to change them at the track!!

Also, some brake fluid and the ability to bleed them at the track if you boil your fluid or wear your pads down dramatically.

Another obvious one is to clean everything out of all the crevises/junk holders before you go to the track. Clean out the papers in the glove box, change in the cup holders, lift up all the mats and clean out under them, etc...

In addition to checking your pads, you should keep an eye on your rotors.

Hi, If you check around, you will find it's not a good idea to use any antifreeze in your car. If it overheats the other cars are in big trouble. Many driving clubs do not allow it, use water wetter, liquid ice etc...

Wow, never heard this before. I'm not sure that any DE requires removal of antifreeze. Who requires this?

From Europencarweb QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH: I hope this helps...

http://www.europeancarweb.com/projec...c_projgolfpt2/

<<Most racing organizations prohibit the use of anti-freeze in track cars--it's very slippery and takes a long time to dry. I emptied the radiator and refilled it with filtered tap water, throwing a bottle of water-wetting agent and corrosion inhibitor into the cooling system to keep things cooler and help prevent corrosion of the VW's aluminum head...>>

Many DEs often do not enforce this unless there is other races the same day...
