HAI mod to "S" Auto
What about just installing one of the other intakes on the market? Even Alta has a different hose to fit the Auto now. I am installing the hose later this month.
I realized you want to do the HAI but I just thought I'd throw out my .02.

I purchased the K&N filter prior to getting the car....wrongly assuming that the vacuum routing would not change.
I guess I could sell the filter, but the mod still seems interesting & I'd really like to try it.
One of these days someone smarter than I will do the mod & I'll give it a go.

The auto has two hoses, right?
Get to 90 degree plastic thinggies, and put them in the lower flange of the HAI. Then just hook one to each hose.
I have an 02 S manual, and took the 90 degree fitting off of an AGS I haven't installed yet. The bottom flange of the K&N is pretty thick, and the do-hicky I used was threaded. It hasn't moved in months of being installed. If the hoses are long enough, just push them through undersized holes in the base. I used a electric drill...

Matt, Thanks for the suggestion. This makes a lot more sense than trying to put an additional filter on the vacuum lines. Do you happen to know the ID of the hose or the size fitting you used?
Thanks again,
