Hi guys,new to the site and will soon be a Cooper owner but am curious what the owners manuals are calling for intervals "miles" and classification of the recommended oils and viscosities. I would like to see what is recommended for USA destined Coopers vs Coopers sold in Europe. The ISLAC,API spec and the wts for both cold and warmer climates and what they deem severe service along with normal service intervals. I really don't much care what the BMW Dealers are telling to use,just need some specs and wts if you guys/gals don't mind opening up your owners manuals and posting.

Does anyone know what the factory oil fill is? What is the crankcase capacitiy?

 

Factory oil is Castrol 5w30 but I drained it out in favor of Amsoil 0w30, a higher spec oil. The capacity is 4.7 quarts. There are many postings and even detailed oil analysis of oils in operation in MINIS on this site. Go check them out. There is also a vendor on here at http://www.syntheticwarehouse.com who can provide info on Amsoil.

 

Should be able to download the owners manual from miniusa.com, there is a wealth of information in it.
