I have done some searching and not finding anything. I have a 2003 Cooper with Auto Climate Control. I have always had the temp set to 66 usually all year long. It's winter here and recently it seems the car is getting well over 66 inside, when I touch the button to take it to manual mode it goes to speen 5, so I am assuming speed 4 it is stuck on. I am out of warranty and kind of unsure what I should do. Is it possibly the temp sensor inside or maybe the control unit itself. I have owned this car for nearly 3 years and it has been through that many winters, I dont ever remember geting so warm that I had to take off my coat while driving. Thanks for any help.

 

Check your warranty again... I believe it is covered under a 48 month/50,000 mile warranty if I am not mistaken?

 

55,000 miles here so I believe I am out of luck for getting it repaired for free... lol. I have an extended warranty, and I will probably just take it in, but was just looking to see if anyone else had a problem like this and what the fix ended up being. Thanks

 

A stab in the dark...

There are air inlets on the fascia of the climate control unit. These may be clogged so the unit isn't sensing the cabin air temperature properly and , thus, not adjusting things. Get a small paint brush and make sure the air inlets are unblocked.

Two holes are located on each of the corner on the control face. But the one on the driver's side seems to be blocked off. If you look closely at the one located on the passenger side, you'll notice a portion of the a circuit board with a small sensor mounted onto it.

 

If its not in warranty,there are 2 climate control heads on Ebay for 60.00 its probably the control.
