Second Service / Maintenance II
Second Service / Maintenance II
I'm scheduled to have my second service (Maintenance II) on Saturday. I've read the maintenance manual to see what's involved. I have no desire to pay $600 (price I've heard) since I (and my friends - thanks CoryB & fellow RCMers) are fairly handy.
One thing in the manual I didn't get was the replacement of the "Poly-v belt." I'm guessing this is the supercharger belt, but I'm looking for confirmation. I've already replaced that at 40K anyhow (with 19% reduction pulley install) so I don't want a new one right now. I'd like about 40K on the new belt before I switch unless I see that it's been slipping (no evidence) or is worn down (some, but not signficant). I do my own oil changes and I just did the plugs at ~62K (which were totally spent - 100K, my @ss - would have done them at 50K if I had known). I also did my own brake flush in May - rather replaced the fluid with DOT4+ if I remember correctly. And I've had my coolant flushed 3 or 4 times since I've had the car ('02). I just got my state safety inspection last weekend which checks the brakes and I know they're new as of May (all 4), so this seems to leave only filters... I have a BMP CAI with a K&N filter so no need there except maybe for a cleaning. I think I'm down to an AC filter, checking the computer for faults and ... umm... what else?
Anybody have experience taking theirs in for a service & telling them that X, Y, & Z are already done? I want to show good service records, but I don't want to get screwed either.

and you know the real pricey stuff like looking here and there....

Considering that you have already done most of the "major" maintenance listed in the book, I think you are probably going to spend a lot of money to have them check to see if your windshield wipers work. Other than the AC filter, you have already done everything major, and everything else I see in my book looks like it is just a bunch of visual inspections.
