How far can I go...

without voiding my warranty .

So I have a 2005 JCW Cooper S. I would definitely not say that I'm bored, because that word has disappeared from my vocabulary when I got my mini, but I'm getting that feeling. You know, the one where things could be a little bit different.

So here is my question. (From this point forward, please take your minds out of the gutter) For some reason, I was born with an exhaust fetish. I had a full exhaust (Headers, cats, mandrel bent true dual) on my Tahoe. Now I have my JCW and I'm loving it. But I'm wondering what things I will be able to upgrade under the bonnet without voiding my warranty?

I was thinking about an open air element and maybe a catback exhaust. But here is another question. I know the new intake will help out on performance, but technically isn't the JCW exhaust tuned for performance anyway? So by changing the exhaust, am I really gaining anything to my advantage?

Whatever advice you guys/gals can add would be greatly appreciated!

I am no expert, but here is my 2 cents:
I did quite a bit of research and ended up purchasing the ALTA intake. I truly believe the diff between the ALTA and your existing JCW intake is MARGINAL, other than the cool factor. Frankly not worth the $$. The JCW exhaust is already a tuned exhaust, again you would just be blowing your money. I would investigate Software tuning upgrades. I am think the JCW kit already have some perks here but you might be able to find some pretty radical tuning settings which you could selectibly use when you wanted and then revert back to a more conservative tuning curve.

it would appear the JCW has most of the perks you can think of and they are done RIGHT!

Look in the performance thread at one of the stickies, want to say magnusson-moss act or something like that. Sorry I am too lazy to check. Basically what it says is that for a dealer to refuse work they have to prove the aftermarker part did the damage. So you may bork part of your warranty, i.e. your old exhaust is not covered anymore, but then it is not on your car anymore either, but if they say your exhaust blew your speakers that would be bs.

Just remember the saying "If you have to ask...", because of the laws made to protect you its not likely you will have any major issues but be prepared to defend yourself.
