I just received my MINI the other day and I've noticed an odd and annoying problem... behind the dash to the left of the steering wheel I can hear what sounds like a stopwatch ticking.

It is there when the engine is running and increases in speed with the engine.

Has anyone seen this before?

I made this statement before, but I have to change my story... the "ticking" remains constant even when I press the accelerator to increase the engine's RPM.

Any thoughts?

 

I've got 2 Minis and one does this, one doesn't. It's super annoying. Did you ever find out what this is? It doesn't change in/out of gear/clutch.

 

my other car did this, but it increased as you drove faster.. it ended up being my wheel bearing. yours might be something different, maybe something to do with the brakes.

get it checked out. u've still got warranty!

 

check the oil level, I had this on a previous car, meant the oil was low. Your dealer should have topped it off but they told me when I picked it up to check at the end of break-in b/c some MINIs burn oil when the engine is new.
