paper - foam - stainless

--Oh yeah the foam media from ITG will be far better for performance than the paper one. You will still have to clean it every 6 to 12 months but air will never be restricted or degrade in perfomance over the years like it would on a paper or gausse type filter. In foam the air coming in will simply go through another hole in the foam material to get to the intake if one passage is blocked. With paper the air is stopped and shoved on the side against other air molecules coming in. Then there is stainless steel filters...

These guys claim to the have the ultimate air filter media which is made out of stainless steel mesh which is supposed to straighten out the air flow and is easy to clean and doesn't require any special oils or kits to clean. Neat, but they don't really have anything ready made for us. One other person made his own intake and put a blitz SUS filter into his MCS but he hasn't posted reults yet. I'm interested in buying an intake and changing the filter to a SUS type cone. Too bad blitz seems to favore only japanese cars tho. I'll let you know what I find out. But for your JCW intake the ITG sounds like a better deal than stock.

interesting. what's involved in cleaning the ITG filter? The MyMini site doesn't list a cleaner or spray or whatever is involved to keep the filter reusable...

this is the first JCW aftermarket replacement filter, right?
