I have been asked about the use of Amsoil or any other replacement gear lube for the 6-Speeds in the Mini Cooper S. Once Amsoil Technical Services was able to verify the requirements of our thansmissions I was notified with the following. If you have been told there is a equivalent product demand to see a technical data sheet that lists that the product meets that standard. For the meantime I recommend using the factory fluid in the transmission should you need to replace it.

That particular transmission uses Texaco MTX 94 type fluid. We do not have a
replacement fluid for MTX 94. In the overall big picture very few
transmissions use this type of fluid, therefore it is economically
unfeasible for us to produce this fluid at this time. As much as I would
like to help you and the "Mini" club, we cannot recommend a fluid that is
not formulated for this particular application. Our marketing department is
not static and they carefully watch trends in the marketplace. Should this
fluid reach a point where it warrants production, we will surely let you
know. I have forwarded your filter concern to our filtration department and
I have also copied your these concerns to Dave Anderson ( just to save you
the trouble :smile. "
