I have a new 03MY MCS with PDC. While I've had no problems with it for the first 600 miles, recently it's been acting up. Sometimes, I place the car in reverse and when I step off the brake the PDC goes off with a solid tone. Normally this solid tone doesn't kick in until you're within half a foot of something, but I'm getting this when there's nothing behind me.

To make matters worse, the problem is intermittent. Any clues? I'll take it to the dealer but if anyone has something I could try first, it might save me a trip.

Thanks,

~Chris

well i was going to get this option on mine but the dealer made fun of me for wanting it cause of his thoughts the mini is so small that their is no reason for them, that they belong on the cars that mini is to backlash aganst(suv's) and they just garb up the bumper ! i swear you think they want to sell you every option they could

but a problem on some cars with them is they must stay very clean because when they have dirt on them they may give false readings!

again im not shure their but that is a cause for error in this option !

I can't say I've had this problem with my PDC but they did warn me to keep the sensors on the back bumper clean. And the fact that the back side of the MINI gets exceedingly dirty, that may be an issue.

Good luck.

Honestly, I'd never have gotten the option if I got the car I ordered. As it turned out, I couldn't wait any longer and bought one off the lot.

The problem seems to have gone away now, so maybe it was a fluke.

Thanks for all your help and advice.

I haven't had any issues with mine (my 2003 S arrived in October). I think the PDC is sort of nice. The MINI is so small that it tempts me to put it in spots or to make y-turns in areas that I never would have dreamed of trying in a bigger car. I could do it without the PDC, but it is faster and safer with it.

Just my $.02.

Welcome to MCO sadales.

I like it to, and I didn't think I would.

Happy motoring.

I don't have the PDC on my "s" but I do have a similar system on my 02 Exployer. I is great for that sized car parallel parking is a breeze. To answer your question, it only acts up when the sensors get dirty.

A round about answer but I hope it helps.

Peace Out

Off topic, but if your PDC just stops working completely, see this thread. Easy fix to an apparently common problem
