How often does everyone get an oil change? Do you always go back to the dealer or are there other recommended places that are cheaper?

 

Change it at 1500 miles (or just after breakin) then at 5000 and every 5k after that.

I goto the dealer for the freebies, then to an independant BMW/MINI shop for the inbetween.

It's not that it that much cheaper at the indi place but they'll be doing all the post-warranty work so I want to build the relationship now and have then learn my car early

 

I agree that a change in the 2k mile range is needed to get the break-in crap out of there. Since we do a lot of highway driving and the car always has a chance to warm up completely, I go for an 8-10k mile interval.
