Trouble Code Identification

As you'll note in another thread I posted about repair manuals, I have a wrecked '02 base model i'm rebuilding. It's mostly done but has some problems. First off, the service engine light is on so my buddy plugged in his OBD2 and read trouble codes P1788, P1698, P1611, and P2401. Does anyone have a manual that can guide me as to what they refer to and possibly their cause?

Here is a great link that I've bookmarked since Obehave was nice enough to tell me !

OBD2 Codes

EDIT : I just search your codes and either they were not they, or it was for another car make... If anyone answers you by tomorrow morning, I'll get my ODB2 reader's manual out of my car and try to look at those codes for you!

sounds like a loose gas cap. The other 3 could be a loose connector from the tranny. Good luck.

I don't know this for sure (can't back it up with references to NAM posts) but my SES light comes on due to bogus "loose gas cap" codes. 3 times in less than a year, and it always disappears within a few days. Service Manager at my dealer's, who read the code for me the first time it happened, says he sees it all the time (gosh, thanks a lot, MINI).

I guess what I'm saying is I wouldn't worry about that one too much, relative to the others.

Holy smokes Pujolz just jacked one, 2-1 Houston,
Tatt

Got the mini home form dealer. All trouble codes indicate a short in the wiring in the transmission, to a selonoid. No idea how it could be, and they don't tear into and rebuild CVTs. $5600 or so to replace. ugh. I'm exploring other options, like used from another wreck, etc.
