Malfunctioning Xenon headlight washers!

It seems that both of my headlight washers are not working. When the lights are on and I spray the windshield the washers should come on, right? (Both water tanks are full.) Well, nothing happens. They worked last week.

Anyone has an idea what it could be? I hate going to the dealer, so if i could avoid it....

Thanks

Ouch- probably not mechanical, an issue with the relay switch. But the dealer ought to be able to detect that sort of electrical malfunction pretty easily, no?

A lot of the time, I wish they were not connected to the windshield spray, I really don't need the headlights cleaned THAT often, and am continually worried about drawing down the reservoir, since I was told that to run it dry, would damage the motors in the light cleaners. You didn't run them dry did you? The headlight reservoir is quite small. Apparently I did so once, but they simply switched off, I guess I am lucky.

I understand that the headlight washers only work if the headlights are on and then only every 4th. time the windshield washers are activated.

That's interesting, and would address my concern. However, pehaps I've got a bug in my system, since they run more often than that.

Incidentally, I congratulate you for being able to remove your MINI shift ****, I, have not been able to, afraid of doing damage... !

Removing the shift **** not real easy but not that bad either. I just strattled the shift lever with it in neutral (actually may have been in 4th. gear) and just pull like hell Make sure you don't punch yourself in the face when it comes loose.

Do the washer nozzles extend, but nothing comes out? When my MCS was new, I had this problem. It turns out that the supply hose was never connected the nozzles properly. The washer fluid was just being pumped out under the car. I found this out when when I triggered the headlight washers with the hood open. You would be amazed how far the washer stream shoots. A trip to the dealer quickly resoved the problem.
