heard from the dealer today that BMW are now recommending changing the seatbacks for the squeaky seat fix. Mine....and many others...are now on backorder.

Mine's a squeaker too... and on the driving side!!!
You should be able to temporarily fix it by adjusting the seat height a bit...
Mine seems to like, when you touch her handle...
Let me if it works

That's good to know.
I've been bugging my dealer for 2 months about the seat.

Mine was squeeking on the drivers side (mind you, in New Zealand we have right hand drive anyway). Dropped it in to the service center and they fixed it, seat and backrest. Not sure how exactly they did it,but it is most certainly gone. They also replaced the rather thin and soft padding in the backrest with a more firmer version, same thickness. Feels better now.generally I am still a bit disappointed with the (sports)seats as they do not compare with the seats in my 318touring which I believe are a lot more sporty and comfortable (firmer).

I too had the squeaky (driver's) seat. It was from the seat butt rather than the seat back.
The dealer lubricated the rails and tighted the connections.
It took them a couple hours to fix it.

Hi, can someone describe the squeak, (please not it's a "squeaky squeak.&quot, You see, my MINI drivers seat has started 'Creaking' when I accelerate hard or take corners fast.

I would not normally worry about this but I was wondering if it's the same fault.

I cannot get the seat to squeak by just bouncing up and down. (heh, yeah, me in the MINI boucing up and down  )

Do I need to get under it with some wd40 to get rid of the creak.

Thanks in advance.

Pebble.

My S is in for the squeak right now. Driver's side seat bottom squeaks at a clutch depression, around curves, over bumps, and gettingin in and out. Sounds CHEAP! Will be posting results.

Raise the seat to its highest position and then, very carefully, spray WD-40 (Or similar lubricant) on the moving seat support mechanisms under the seat bottom. Works like a charm and no more squeaking.

No need to get the dealer involved or replace the seats...2 time wasters IMO.

I tried that and it still didn't work (the squeak will come back eventually). Sometimes a new seat back is needed. That eventually cured the problem for me.

My seat bottom has been not only been squeaking, butt groaning like crazy during turns! I looked at it a couple days ago. It moves about 1/4 inch. The jacking arms seem to have gotten weak, no bolts to tighten. The cheapskate solution was to lower all the way down so there isn't any play. Fine for tall drivers like me...

A header and a free flowing exhaust will fix the problem - sort of. At least you won't hear the squeak. Worked for me............
Also takes care of rattles.
