Anyone with 05 vent issues?
Anyone with 05 vent issues?
I'd like to know if 05 MCS owners with standard vent ***** have vents that operate as expected.
On my 05 MCS with the standard a/c and heater control system (3 *****) if I put the vent selector **** in the position which should move air out of the dash and the floor vents I get about 5% volume out of the dash and the rest out of the floor.
All other cars I have driven have a similar airflow out of the dash and floor so I don't think I'm going crazy. In fact, I'm driving a rental car right now (my MINI is at the dealership) and the air comes out more or less equally out of the dash/floor vents at the same time.
Also, the vent selector **** on the far right doesn't have detents which makes for a seemingly CHEAP and POOR design. Using the **** creates an unnecessary distraction while driving since you must always spend the extra time looking to see what position you are moving the **** into.
Overall my service advisor and the mini techs feel these issues are normal and acted as if this is the first time they've had someone complain about them.
My car is at a MINI dealership right now getting a nasty headliner buzz and the typical H/K speaker buzz fixed. I'd like some ammo to take back with me so they'll fix the vents also.
When both dash and floor vents are selected, do you get decent flow out of both at the same time?
Does your selector **** have detents?
Thanks!

Anyway I can't get any more airflow than a normal human exhale out of any given dash vent when I have both the floor and dash selected.
My question is does anybody get decent flow out of both at the same time?

I'm really interested in hearing from people who get decent flow from the dash vents and the floor vents at the same time when your selector **** is pointing directly at the dash/floor combo icon between the floor only and the dash only icons.
Finding people with properly working selector ***** and vents will help those of us with malfunctioning equipment get ours fixed. Right now my dealership is telling me that mine is functioning is normally.
Thanks!

Sorry, I don't have an 05, I have an 03.
I get a good blend when the **** is set at the mid point of the blend. Seems to work as per the setting in all positions. Indents would not be that useful, IMO. I know how to turn the **** without looking at it from doing it all the time.
I just wish it turned all the way around. Windsheild and dash blend would be nice in the winter. I motor with my window down abit even at -30F, some heat on my hands would be nice, rather than having to change it all the time.
Maybe MINI should have a heated steering wheel
