Programming New Speedometer
Programming New Speedometer
I dropped my Valentine One on my tach/speedometer pod (I have the Chrono Pack) and scratched them up.
Couldn't stand looking at them so I ordered a new one from Classic Auto Campus (great service and price). I installed the new one today; the tach and speedo both function normally but the display windows in the instruments read the word "Code." No mileage, clock, etc. display. I understand that the dealer has to reprogram this. I don't have a service manual yet. Does anyone know if there is a way to reprogram this yourself? Is it the ECU that has to be programmed or is there a chip in the instruments themselves?

Nop the dealer has to reprogramme the unit which will cost you labour
but if you are anyway handy open the screws at the back of the old unit and take out the original tach and speedo, and do likewise for the new unit and swap them over, this is the easiest thing in the world to do and will save you a few quid,
dont worry these things are fairly rugged and you wont damage them
just swap the innards
then if you want to sell the spare unit you have pm me im interested
