Who has the highest mileage in a MCS?

Out of curiousity, I am interested in learning the highest mileage that has been attained on the original motor in a MCS. If you have replaced the motor, you have to list only the mileage on the new motor. Also, please list whether you have made any modifications (such as 15% pulley, JCW kit, or...) and if possible, when (at what mileage point) the modifications were made. I am curious as to how long one can expect the MCS' motor to last. I admit that is something of a loaded question, as longevity is based on a number of factors.... I am just trying to get some kind of a ballpark idea. Thanks in advance to all who post.

caminifan,

I don't have a real answer to your question, but I see many reports of these cars going strong with well over 100,000 miles on them. From reports I've seen, these engines are way stonger than anyone really expected them to be. In fact I can't remember ever seeing a report of one of these engines failing because they were worn out from daily driving high mileage. The only failures I have seen had to do with the occasional and atypical defect (which can happen with any make), or from folks who are pushing the cars to and beyond their limits (i.e. track use, etc). From what I've seen we could have 200,000 mile engines on our hands.

I don't mean to hijack your thread, but I would like to ask if anyone has actually worn one of these engines out from high mileage.?? This would include folks with basic, non-extreme, mods, such as intake, exhaust, pulley, ecu

As I mentioned in my original post, I am attempting to see what the engine is capable of - it is too bad that NAM doesn't have a 100K club (or better yet, a 200K club). I was well on my way toward 300,000 with my 1978 Diesel Rabbit until a temperature sensor failed and the engine overheated and cracked the block. I wonder how well the MINI engine will do.

Actually, MINIUSA has a "100,000 Mile Motorer" Club or something like that. DPilgrim from Florida was the first member, and from what I hear, he got President by default. He has 135k+ miles on his 2002 MCS.

70K on a 2003 (9/02 build). Pulley and LSD since 32K, no issues. Pulley was 15% for the first 5 months, then 19% since. Original clutch, which is doing fine.
