I have recently noticed a new sound from my 2005 MCS. Upon takeoff, while getting off the clutch I hear a single pop nearly every time coming from the front of the car. It sounds like a metallic ping, but it only occurs once on takeoff and very rarely when getting on the throttle. This is independant of the amount of throttle given.

I have a new 05 cooper S. It clunks from the left rear and the dealer says they all clunk when pulling off from a stop. Not acceptable to me!! Esp from BMW. I have written miniusa to see what they say. Not a big deal but annoying in a new car.

Does this happen each time you take off from a stop, or just the first time you take off after starting the car?

Mine happens pretty much every time when taking off in first gear.
