Input Bearing Failing?
Input Bearing Failing?
I have 86k miles on my 02 MC. Yesterday I noticed a slight ticking noise while pulling away in 1st gear. By today it was noticable in all gears. If I depress the clutch pedal the sound goes away. If the clutch is out and the car is in neutral the clicking noise is audible. In fact it speeds up as I rev the engine.
What's everybody think? Input bearing? If so am I in need of a new transmission?

2007 mini cooper s noise like ticking or knocking when warmed up and in neutral. sound goes away when clutch is pressed in, input shaft bearing? DIY? Price for dealer? any help would be appreciated!
sry didnt realize till after posting that this is in the 1st gen thread but im assuming they should have similar solutions.
im running into this problem. i got a 06 R53 with only 33k miles on it. same ticking noises until i push the clutch in. and it gets louder when i rev the engine a bit. i also noticed that when its in gear and im really get on the throttle and push it, it slips. thats the best i can explain it. a quick jolt, loss of power, a hiccup. any advice on that?
i hope someone can chime in here to help both of us, as im not under warrenty and with your 06 im assuming you are not as well.
I havent noticed any slipping yet but have only owned the car for a month
my noise isnt there all the time, it is intermittent and comes and goes, from what i notice at least.
How difficult of a fix is this? I completely rebuilt my last car (honda civic) but really dont want to get dirty with this one, especially since it is soo new to me.
any confirmation that this is the culprit would be greatly appreciated.

i think im going to do the clutch regardless of its failing or not failing. so now im out shopping for a clutch. if anyone has a good say for one, please let me know. something fairly priced, long lasting, performance happy. SPEC is out of the question.
