I have a 2005 with MSFW and it smells like leather (I hope that smell is the steering wheel). The rest of my car's interior is made of various plastic derivatives that give off a different sort of fragrance. So many sensations when driving a MINI!

Yes it is leather and the nice BMW kind too! The leather cover in the previous 2-spoke steering wheel was also leather but did not feel as nice/substantial as in the new 3 spoke steering wheel. The leather in the current steering wheel feels soft to the touch and generally very pleasant. BMW calibre.

Just syaing that a lot of what is passed off as "leather" in automotive interiors these days often has minimal cow content and has been through massive amounts of industrial processing.

Leather

The window sticker on my 05 MCS lists it as 3-spoke leather mfsw.

Yes genious, all automotive interior leathers are certainly processed and treated - they are however cow hide leather. Welcome to manufacturing, 2005.

Anybody know the approximate cost to re-leather (with good stuff) a MINI steering wheel? I've seen the leather steering wheel covers, but I mean a complete reinstall. Not a lot of leather involved, but complex (labor) to do???

ps...I have a leather (Arby's) non-MFSW.
