I was checking out Rick-Anderson's thread and went to the Dinan website,anybody know what the deal is with the Dinan Performance Engine Software?

 

Like most of their competitors, Dinan creates a set of air/fuel ratio maps across the rpm band to help extract performance from the modifications made to the motor. Presumeably, Dinan maps have been created on a dyno with a MINI that has been fitted with their performance bits. Thus, strictly-speaking, their maps are specific to their products. Only additional dyno testing will reveal whether their software will be of benefit to motors that have had additional or non-Dinan mods.

BTW - there are also a limited set of additional adjustments that can be made via an ECU flash such as the raising of the redline and increasing the torque-loss thresholds that activate the ASC system.
