hey guys, had that problem forever and had to take it to the dealership 4 times, every time they said it was normal and that they all do that. I know thats totally untrue because we had another mini that never made that noise. they finally did a transmision fluid flush and the noise went away. On occasion I hear it but its quiet and does not happen very often

There was a bulletin about this years ago...replace the fluid with the Non-LSD transmission fluid and go 10 turns left, 10 turns right at full lock in the parking lot.. It has fixed all of my LSD related complaints.

I've got the noise. I never heard it when I had the runflats. Now I have directional non-runflats. Tillie started groaning when I had 8K miles on them (30K on her).

I too have developed a similar sound from the driver's side front wheel, like a loud clicking metal-on-metal whenever the car's (2005 S, no lsd, conv. tires, 25K) being turned hard to the right, but only after it's been driven for awhile, never cold.

sure sounds like a wheel bearing going out or something related to that, because the noise is getting louder over time

had an 4w alignment 2 months ago, along with a DM flywheel/clutch replacement about a month before that. at first I thought I had a big rock or nail in the tire but that's not the case. car is going in thurs the 29th for a thorough front end inspection so I'll keep ya posted

extended warranties a gamble?? for this car they're certainly not.

Has anyone experienced this and/or know what the problem might be or if it is a problem at all?

Thanks for testing and replying!

PS I have 5300 miles on our MCS and it is a manual trans w/ LSD and sport package.
My MINI dealership determined that it was the clutch (defective) and they replaced it for free when I had 200 miles to go on the warranty. They would not explain the nature of the defect, and since they did the work for free I didn't argue too hard to find out. I haven't heard the noise since, and that was 2000 miles ago.
