Engine stalling...service light?
Engine stalling...service light?
The other day, my dad was driving our auto. mcs and he said that it stalled twice on him. obviously, this is not normal. im just wondering is there a glitch in the ecu or is the tranny messed up? then when i drove it today the service engine soon light came on...we only have 1040 miles on it. i know that there is no required break in oil service, so whats the deal? any ideas?
I know it is silly, but the first thing to remember to try is the gas cap. Most cars nowdays will illuminate the check engine light if the cap is not tightened the entire way. Shouldn't make it stall, though.....

I had the service engine light come on too (no stalling at all though, performance has been top notch) and took it to the dealer. Evidently it threw a code having to do with the catalitic converter but there is no problem with it. BMW/Mini is aware of the code and service light and is working on it - you should take your car into the dealer so they can verify the cause and put you on the list for when the fix comes out.
I am leery of the fix more then the problem tho, my car is driving excellently and past experience has shown me that BMW ECU software fixes often make the car feel worse, boggier, then they did. (Not just engine software per se, but several people I know have been very unhappy with SMG software changes in their M3s.)

My wife's new MCSC Automatic is 2 weeks old and the Check Engine Light came on on Thursday. Went off on Friday and returned on Saturday. No engine problems, just the light. She is going to take it in this week to have it looked at. Anyone else out there with the same problem on the Automatic?
same problem for my 2 week old mini. Scared the hell out of me until I read this http://www.gbmini.net/mtblog/archive...engine_1.shtml
car also feels very sluggish in 1st or 2nd moving away from a stop.

2 treads same issue, now I'm really goinf to relax and wait for a bug fix.
If I wanted a querk free experience i guess i could have kept my GMC, although the gas bill was only slight smaller than some small nations GNP.

Hello all,
I took my mini into the dealer today. Great trip to Scottsdale from Tucson around 120 miles. And got a new O2 Sensor installed. The SES light still off. Just hope it stays that way. Paperwork said PO136 O2 sensor bank 1 behind Cat malfunction just incase anyone knows what that means. They washed my mini too.
