The MINI (Bentley) service manual says to apply anti-seize, and to torque to 20ft/lbs.

FYI a little anti-sieze goes a long way. More is not better.

Anti Seize (like teflon tape for plumbers) does double duty, It keeps the threads lubricated, but also snugs the fit up alot, making it stay in place better.
