2011 S, Possible high pressure pump issue

I replaced the high pressure pump last year, under acceleration the engine warning light would come on, sometimes set a P0087 code. Installed new pump end of Jan. 2024. Now when leaving off the throttle and decelerating, the engine warning light sometimes comes on and every now and then sets code P0087. Runs perfect at idle, crusing, and accelerating.
Fuel pressure is fine until letting off throttle. Pressure drops and immediately returns. I replaced the low pressure pump, and fuel rail pressure sensor. This does not seem like a pump problem to me, but my pump experience is with mechanical fuel pumps and hydraulics, any help would be appreciated, thanks.

It is entirely possible the high pressure pump is flaking out. Some of the cheap ones will barely last a month. The high pressure pump has a solenoid that controls when it switches from lower pressure to the higher setting.

Okay couple questions here… I have 2011 MCS N18.

1) did 2013 N18 have updated 90 deg design for HPFP? If yes, if it’s a better more reliable design, can i install on 2011?

2) because I will have a tune from Mario, can I go with the JCW Bosch HPFP version?

The later N18 HPFP and the earlier version are NOT interchangeable

Upgrade? No. Best option is one of the OEM pumps. Stay away from the cheap ebay options.

Alrighty then, we’ve confirmed:

2011 N18 can’t upgrade to the 2013 OEM design

2011 N18 S can’t upgrade to the JCW Bosch p/n

there are no known reliable off brand replacements, and no aftermarket engineered upgrade options

there is one guy on FB who posted that he sells rebuilt OEM HPFP

i do appreciate it y’all
