Right turn signal and high beams not working
Right turn signal and high beams not working
I recently acquired a 2013 base R56 with 37000 kms on it. It had been sitting for a half a year.
Anywho, after adjusting the tilt steering, I got all kinds of lights on the dash.
I traced it to the szl connector under the steering column. I could see copper corrosion in the female end of the connector.
I cleaned it with contact cleaner and a small pin.
After, all the lights went away, and everything is normal on the dash.
However now the right turn signal and the high beams don't work. Both indicators work when the hazard switch is toggled.
They both worked before I cleaned the connection.
My OBDII scanner hasn't read any codes.
Which pins in the connector are for high beams and right turn signal? I can't find a pin out diagram anywhere.
How can I diagnose this? All suggestions welcome :-/
Cheers

Use a BMW scan tool to retrieve codes, which will likely be due to water intrusion around the FRM module behind the driver-side kick panel. If you are lucky, cleaning corrosion from the FRM connector pins also will solve this problem. Also check whether any of the 4 FRM fuses in the JBE are blown.
At some point, you may need to find the source(s) of the water intrusion and fix it permanently. It's an extremely common problem for MINIs.
