Fault Code P1498

Anyone know what this might be? I know it has something to do with the emissions, but the car is only 2500 miles old...

Thoughts from the experts of NAM?

Tanks!

Yup, just pulled the codes again, and it's P1498 "Auxiliary Emissions Control" PLUS a new code of P0456 "EVAP Emissions very small leak"

Anyone seen these before with any car?

Peake Research for the R5/EMX indicates the code P0456 as "Evaporative Emission System Leak Detected (very small leak)".

Code P1498 is not listed with Peake.

I know you were looking for an expert, but I thought I would answer anyway...

Well the very small leak refers to the fuel vapor recovery system. Meaning the LDP (Leak Diagnosis Pump) System found a detected a leak less like .5mm. Stupid question, but have you checked your fuel cap? From my experience this is the prob 90% of the time. This can also be caused by fueling your car with the key on. Or have you done any mods or anything to your car lately. If so I would check the areas you worked in. Keep us informed on what you find.

MINIGURU - Thanks, I'll reset the cap again. My concern is that it's also throwing a EML light along with the SES.

I was told to check the breather tube on the SC. Mine wasnt in all the way. I had the P1498 and P1297 and check engine light after installing my new SC. I reset the tube (push until the expanded part of the tube hits the red washer and got rid of the check engine light and P1297 code. Now I still have the P1498. Have checked all hose connections to no avail. Car still runs like a pretty boy in prison but that EML light is driving me crazy. If you need to check the SC hose,l riased up the car (since I had to change my SC pulley) disconnected the lower motor stabilzer, the top two motor mounts and lowered it back down in blocks of wood. Much easier than taking off the bumper again. Someone please let me know if you clear that code.
