R50 Headlight Bounce

My wife’s 03 Justa/Base has self leveling headlights. Recently I noticed that there was a noise inside the headlight when turned the headlight on, sort of a thumping noise.
Last night we adjusted the headlights and noticed the beam is actually bouncing when viewed on the garage door. It’s still making the noise too.

I hooked up my scan tool and the 03 does not have the leveling option like my 06 has in the ZKE module. I did remove the plugs from both level sensors and nothing changed.

Anyone have any ideas?

I think they do have it? On xenon cars their is an auto leveling and my guess is the motor is not working right in the housing. Or that bad joint in the housing.

You are correct that I have the Xenon technology lights. I borescoped the adjustment sockets and they are fine.

Did some troubleshooting and if I pull the drivers headlight connector the passenger one is quiet. If I plug it back in and pull the passenger plug the drivers still makes th noise. Both make he noise if both plugs are on. I cycled the switch when pulling he connectors.

do I have a bad silver box?

Yep might be those ballast, aka silver boxes buzzing. They will flicker and loud buzz when they go bad. Normal is a high pitch whine. I would do both, one for each light.

The motor on the inside of the light does the leveling.

I tried changing the silver boxes. Might be the module behind the glove box? What if I have two bad sensors? Would it do this? I tried unplugging them but if they weee bad, it wouldn’t make any difference.

Hmm. Wits End.
changed the headlight level control module (along with the front/rear sensors and headlights) and they still bounce and make noise.

I also opened them up and the control rods are still attached. When I unplug the module the noise and bounce goes away.

any ideas? Body Control module?
