Fuel Pressure Issues

I have a 2011 Cooper S Hatchback

I was having issues with the car cold starting, i would need to give it a lot of gas to get going. So, I replaced the high pressure fuel pump and the fuel filter.
The vehicle now seems to be getting no fuel pressure. It would crank but not catch but now it won't even crank after trying 10 times.
Any idea?

Thanks,

It could be your in-tank fuel pump, I recently had to replace mine.

You can test it by taking the lower back seat off- insert key, turn ignition on ,engine off (don't crank it)

Your listening for the in-tank fuel pump priming or by checking if its priming by feeling it vibrate.

That makes a lot of sense thanks for providing direction.

Update

After inserting the key, with my hand on the fuel pump lid I felt no vibration. Seems like that is the culprit. Anyone have suggestions on a good fuel pump, the costs vary wildly. This might be the most varied costing part I have seen, $60-$700.

There should be plenty at junk yards (pick-n-pull) around you, I got one for under $20.

Still not working

So, I got the new fuel pump installed. I put the key in press the ignition without the clutch wait for 30 seconds I don't feel any vibration from the pump. But after trying to start the car up, it goes chuga chuga chuga chuga, but does not start up, then about 15 seconds after I stop trying I feel the fuel pump vibrate.
Any thoughts thanks.

In this video at around 27:12 he shows how to prime the fuel system, iirc that procedure is needed for the computer to relearn fuel data.

check the orings with the fuel filter. I've seen numerous times that the orings don't seat correctly and it never holds pressure. Also, where did get the HPFP from? Was it an ebay rebuilt? If so, THAT is your problem. Unless you got an OEM pump or that alternate option from ECS (It's about $300 less than OEM), my money is on a faulty HPFP.

I picked up the fuel pump from ECS tuning. But I will check the fuel filter and make sure the o rings are all seated correctly. Thanks for the message. Car has been sitting for three weeks I just haven't had the heart to work on it, thanks for providing some momentum.

Good chance it's probably an oring. Look at the larger one. I always moisturize it lightly with vaseline, then install it. That will let it slide. You'll notice the cap will be super dry from the gas evaporation and it's very easy for the Oring to bunch up as you rotate the cap to the lock position. Unfortunately, if an oring is messed up, you have to buy a fuel filter kit to get more Orings. The local auto parts stores typically have them.
One other thing to check is the fuel supply line connection at the HPFP. Were you able to remove it without breaking the small plastic tabs. If it was leaking, you would smell gas.
Good luck.
