Rough idle, stalling with p0014 & p0015
Rough idle, stalling with p0014 & p0015
Hi all,
I have an r56 mini one, with an n12b14a engine. Recently it died on me while driving to work and threw p0014 and p0015 codes claiming the exhaust cam was over-advanced and over-retarded. Had it towed to a garage that said it was faulty VANOS solenoids, which I replaced, making it run better but it still throws the codes and idles terribly, and stalls randomly. The throttle response is awful too. I then replaced the timing chain, checked/recalibrated the timing with the correct locking tools, replaced the cam position sensors, cam sprockets/VVT hubs, and reset the VANOS adaptions and it's still doing the same thing, with the same codes. Any help would be appreciated as I'm really running out of ideas now.
Edit: I can post a video of it running/idling if that helps.

I'm no VANOS expert and have an N14 instead, but it seems like the only remaining sources of VANOS issues are: (i) oil pressure necessary to drive timing advance/retard in the VANOS components (clogged VANOS solenoid supply passages, bad oil pump or worn bearings elsewhere allowing excess pressure loss); (ii) the replacement VANOS solenoids are also defective; (iii) wiring harness to/from the VANOS solonoid or camshaft position sensor; or (iv) bad ECU inputs or outputs.
