Hello, my R53 has been in the shop for a while now with some headlight and tail light issues as well as blinker issues. Basically every light on the exterior of the vehicle isn’t working properly. The shop has taken multiple pieces out and replace them thinking it might be a computer or a module and then it was not that and they say everything they have tried is pointing at the main wiring harness. My issue is that this part has been discontinued and I have not been able to find any others. I was wondering if anybody knows of a place where I could get one or knows of an alternative. Never heard of a main harness failure causing only external lighting issues; would think you'd have substantially greater / more severe manifestations than lighting if it were at fault, like the car won't run. Never heard of a main harness failure at all.

Would suspect body control module i.e. BC1, which sits right under a sunroof drain hose that likes to come loose inside the right side A pillar, or a ground that has corroded / come loose / been compromised. Is this a MINI-specializing shop, and please tell us it isn't the Stealership; they sound like they either don't know what they're doing or they're taking you for a ride in 'muh diagnosis labor bucks'. Would start seeking a second opinion.

 

It is not at the dealership, it is at a friends shop, I can send the notes they gave me, today and picked it up, because we are taking it to the dealership to see if there’s anything they can do, I am not paying anything out-of-pocket actually. My friend said he would do it all of it because he actually sold me a car. I did not know if they specialize a Mini Cooper specifically they do a lot of different European brands, but they’ve had plenary of minis in and out of the shop, and they have a Mini Cooper specialist. But I will forward the information that you gave me to them, but my car has no sunroof
