Im looking at purchasing a 2002 Mini cooper. The odometer looks like the LCD part that's shows miles is a bit messed up. Is there a way to hook up to the ECM via OB2 to get an accurate mileage? or what options do i have?

Most BMW specific diagnostics tools can read the mileage - but keep in mind it is recorded in km so you'll have to do some maths.

 

Will Bimmer Link do that?

 

There is an OBD2 Parameter ID (PID): A6; that provides the odometer in kilometers. One would need a scan tool that was capable of querying for that PID and assembling the data properly, and of course the car's engine controller would need to support the PID.
