Door locks not working, hatch won't open '05 MCS

2005 MCS (R53)

My doors won't lock from either the switch on the console or the key fobs (tried them both). If I use the key in the driver's door handle outside the car, only the driver's door will lock. I've also noticed that after pressing the key fob button, when I open the door, I hear a tick-tick-ticking from inside the door. When I close the door, the ticking stops.

At the same time, the hatch release doesn't work and I have to use the manual release under the rear seat to get it open.

Any ideas? Thanks-

Thanks, Charlie. The battery was discharged about a month ago, but my charger brought it back & a load tester said it was good. I wonder if that event a month ago might have messed something up, though the locks have been working until today.

I hope so, as, yes, replacing the BCM isn't cheap. It came to mind when I saw your post as a few years back I shorted out my BCM by doing the rear-fog-light-as-a-brake-light hack. My passenger-side brake light stopped working and it wasn't bulbs or fuses or any of the usual suspects. Over time, the extra draw on the BCM from the additional brake light overloaded it, and it sounds like you have a similar gremlin that's affecting your programming and electronics. Hope I'm wrong! Good luck!

The BCMs are on backorder, other sites don't show the correct data. No update on when they come back, I would check the module to see if water got into it and corroded the unit. If it is you will have to get ones used thats close to the same options and model MINI you have and then have someone to recode it. We dot do that here but i know people said they did that.

I also had a weak battery that caused issues and until i changed it the car had issues, even with the old battery charging up.

Yep, turned out to be the battery. Seems odd that the battery had enough juice to start the engine, but not to operate the door locks. Weird.

Anyway, thanks to all of you who took the time to reply!
