Stock Problems/IssuesDiscussions related to warranty related issues and repairs, or other problems with the OEM parts and software for MINI Clubman (R55), Cooper and Cooper S(R56), and Cabrio (R57).
Bought these king con rod and rod bearings for top and bottom and found the edges on both ends have the grooves that stick out. I’ve seen this with many other cars but my stock bearings don’t have these fitment slots and it’s neither into the con rod itself where the mating surface is (pictured).
Summit is a pretty big name website so I had originally no doubts about fitment. Only red flag is that they r said to fit all the gen 1’s engine as well as gen 2. Now I don’t know if they really do use the same bearings gen 1 and 2 but I don’t find many parts between the 2 that are interchangeable. Surprised me to see them listed as such.
Are they supposed to still snap into place with that fitment groove being held by nothing?
ive also contacted the website.
side note: summits picture of all the bearings is misleading. Only received 8 total. Not sure why they pictured 16 lol nowhere else to put 8 more.
Ive been checking other cites and most have this shape with no slits or grooves for there to be held down. I’m furthering convincing myself summit just has wrong part listed being compatible for all minis. Disappointing to loose more time with my rebuild. But I’ll see what summit has to say to see if they are able to make any amends.
also on ecs these bearings in particular say they fit all minis, gen 1 & 2.
