A specific HID repair/upgrade option - MORIMOTO?

I started a thread here trying to figure out which way is up with my factory HIDs... Or rather, which is factory, since they don't match. And then (hopefully) options for how to fix them - properly, so both sides match.

Even as many pics as I have there, there's only stunned silence, it seems. So let's try a different tact...

Has anyone tried this?

I believe this kit is a kit to repair or upgrade existing HIDs - not to convert a non-HID car to HID - right?
Can anyone comment on whether it's worth the upgrade to 55w? Would be fun to out-bright my wife with her Acura HIDs

And - does anyone know if both the high beam and low beam are HID on the 06 Cooper S?
I ask because I see they have this high beam kit also:

...but it the original isn't HID, I don't need to convert it to HID.

I'm really just trying to get both headlights working, equally, and currently my high and low beams on the driver side are out.

And with factory wiring like this - I'm not surprised. I'm sure these bare wires came in contact with one another (how could they not?) - and that'll short stuff out:

Any help to get this on track, to repair, are appreciated,
Maybe this option above is something people here have experience with?
Thanks!
