Flywheel misalignment after rebuild

I tried to replace the flywheel before engine install after complete rebuild and the wheel didn’t align with the locking pin. I know I rotated the engine after installing the chain which suggests I unlocked the cams to do that. I don’t recall re-locking the cams after I rotated it. Grrrrrr

You can see how far I’m off in the photo. Red dot is where the locking pin is. It seems to be just enough to be one link in the chain if I’m misaligned. What would you do?

Im thinking I’ll pull the valve cover to see how the cams are situated. Any other thoughts?

If crank is rotated more than 90 deg with cams installed but not locked, you better look for bent valves.

Okay, phew. I pulled the valve cover and put the cam locks on and they weren't clocked properly. I rotated the crank about 5* or so to align them and the flywheel locking pin falls into place. I avoided a big one there!!
