AC system request - ambient pressure with system off
AC system request - ambient pressure with system off
Hey all -
Quick request for someone with an AC charger can with a gauge attached - could someone please post up what the ambient pressure inside of their functional AC system is on the low side port at rest - as in AC not running, turned off, vehicle off and cool.
My AC has been low for awhile and I want to charge it. I have been adding coolant gas slowly, and there is enough pressure in the system now to kick on the compressor and cooling fan, but I am still blowing warm air. I have been gradually adding gas, but as soon as I add it, the pressure has been staying the same (I think my can of coolant is getting low, but it is still definitely adding slowly to the system) - my low side pressure when running is around 25psi (ambient temp around 85, so I am still low), but when I turn the car off and the high and low sides equaize in the system, I am around 85 or 90 psi. Just looking for a baseline from someone's system that is working on what the baseline pressure is in the low side port before the compressor shoots it all over to the high pressure side.
Thanks!

Went out and bought a set of A/C gauges, so no need now. High side is quite low at 130 or so psi. The set of gauges dd not come with a can piercer and hose, so off for that tomorrow and will keep adding to the low side until I see that high side get to the right level. Compressor is running now though, and the cooling fan, so good signs.
