starting problem
starting problem
I just recently bought a 2009 R56 clubman automatic. I have did all kinds of preventive maintenance on this vehicle
the car is running extremely smooth and clean. The problem that I'm having is the car will not start with the starter
button. I can get the car to start if I jump the starter wire it starts with no problem. I tried a new starter switch
that's not the issue also tried a different Cas, DME, key only to eliminate a problem with the original units.
I'm hearing a clicking that comes from the fuse box when trying to start. I started checking wiring so far
and haven't found the source of the problem.

Check your master engine ground. I just helped a guy get his going (2014 Country Man S) and his main engine ground was corroded 90% off, meaning once and a while it would work, once running it runs great due to pulling from the alternator, but because the main ground wasn't grounding the engine properly it wouldn't start, just crank until battery died. Due to the engine not grounding the alternator also wouldn't charge the battery.
