First R50 with shot midlands - what to do?

Hey everyone, I made a post about this earlier but I think in the wrong place and it got auto moderated. I picked up an '02 Pepper White R50 with a shot midlands 5 speed that came with a replacement transmission. Unfortunately after doing most of the work to drop the transmission and replace it I only then realized that the replacement was a 5 speed Getrag and not a midlands. So I'm kinda stuck now. What should I do?
  1. Sell the getrag and get a 6 speed getrag and convert it.
  2. Keep the getrag 5 speed and make it work.
  3. Sell the getrag 5 speed and get another midlands.
I'm leaning towards option 1 but I would need to find a buyer for the 5 speed. Even though through my research it's the more 'valuable' transmission that seems only due to them not failing often and being in low supply while the 6 speed is much more desirable. I have also discovered that the conversion process is slightly different for these transmissions and there's not as much information about installing the 5 speed getrag as there are 6 speed conversions. I'm in northern California about 2 hours away from Sacramento. Is there a reliable place to get a used 6 speed getrag and perhaps find a buyer for my 5 speed? I also can't verify if the 5 speed I have is even good. The seller said it was but they also sold me the entirely wrong replacement transmission with the car. So is there a way to test it on a bench or something? Thanks for your time.

I'd go with 3.
If you go with 1 you may have some unpleasant surprises with incompatible parts (axles for sure, perhaps the clutch too).

Well there's plenty of information about successfully swapping to the 6 speed getrag. I'd almost prefer option 2 but I would need a parts list as I know the layout is different than either the midlands or 6 speed getrag. Some users reported successfully swapping to the 5 speed getrag but most of the posts are very old.

So after doing some research I have a parts list to just use the getrag 5-speed:
  • Axles + Axle Hex Nuts
  • Clutch and Flywheel
  • Clutch Slave Cylinder + Hydraulic Line C
  • Transmission Mount
Things I'm unsure of:
  • Shifter Cables (Same part no. on Rockauto)
  • Starter (Same part no. on Rockauto)
  • Passenger Axle support bearing
  • Backup light switch/plug
