R56 Cooper S Air bag light goes off
R56 Cooper S Air bag light goes off
I have removed my two front seats to do an interior detailing. I noticed the air bag lights went off after I plugged back the yellow connectors.
I did my research but still wondering are there others ways to fix this issue besides bring the car to the dealer?
Appreciate everyone’s input!

If you started the car with the seats unplugged you will throw a Check Engine Light (CEL) that has to be cleared using a scan tool. There is also a problem with these cars where the passenger seat occupancy sensor goes bad. This is a very expensive fix but if your car qualifies there is an extended warranty addressing it. Check with your dealer. My 2012 MCS with 72K miles was fixed for free under this warranty extension.
Just about any shop should be able to clear the error codes to make the light go away.
In the future, disconnect the battery before unplugging anything related to the airbags. 1. It's a recommended best practice to protect the airbags. 2. It will prevent the light from coming on.
