Comfort Access Died!!!
Comfort Access Died!!!
I was out doing some running when I came out to get in the car the fob wouldn't unlock the door so I had to do it manually. Then the car wouldn't start without the fob being inserted into the ignition. I got a key fault light when I tried to start the car with the fob not inserted. I've replaced the fob battery and still nothing. Does the fob need to be replaced or is it just a matter of clearing the fault and resetting it? I searched for comfort access faults on here and yahoo but couldn't find much.
Odd as it sounds, check your rear view mirror for signs of water. The drains of the sunroof can get clogged, which will put water right in there. That is where the main stuff for the comfort access lives. I had to open my mirror up and dry it, then it worked fine. A small round seed managed to make it to one of the drains and caused just enough of a clog to direct water inside.
I had something my wife hung on the mirror that was on a metal chain. I was trying to take it off and the chain broke and a section got inside the mirror so I guess it shorted it out. I bought another mirror off ebay that had came from a salvaged car and it doesn't work either and yesterday had a locksmith try to reprogram the fob and was told the fob works, fuses checked out okay but there was something car related that was causing the issue
