Oil service reminder goes to zero after being reset

I can't decide if this best fits here or in the "hatch talk" subforum.

I have a 2009 S, and a couple of oil services ago, the shop forgot to reset the oil service reminder. No big deal, they put a sticker on the windshield. The next time I took the car in, the "remaining mileage" was negative, and when they reset the reminder, it would only go to zero.

I've since tried to reset it myself using the odometer and turn signal stalk buttons, and that seems to work--it says it's reset, and if I look in the service information, the mileage has gone back to 15k miles. The problem is, after I turn the car off and back on, it's back at zero.

Anyone run into this, and how did you fix it?

Thanks

Eh, if you are running 5000 mile service intervals, does it really matter? Looking at a "0" or a blank space for servicing is better than looking at a negative number.

No, it doesn’t really matter, but it’s annoying, and it trains the driver to ignore warnings.

To be clear, it resets to zero after a shutdown/start cycle, but it counts down (into negative numbers) from there.

Every time the odometer shows a 5 and 3 zeros or 4 zeros...easy peasy.

What? I know I can use it to track oil age, it’s still annoying to have a red oil warning come on every time. Do you have a way to reset it?
