Cat issues, looking for replacement suggestions

Hello!

I just picked up my first mini (04' Cooper S). I brought it to a shop to have it looked over to make sure it was good to drive, and they said my cat needed to be replaced (shocker). I would like to replace it with a high flow, but Im struggling to find one. Ive searched around the forums for awhile and It looks like everyone just Cat deletes. I'd love to do that but I know it wouldn't pass inspection in Pennsylvania without a Cat. Would really like to throw headers, high flow cat, electric cut out and keep the stock exhaust on. Any suggestions? Thank you!

Scorpion or Milltek?

I believe there are more, but these 2 pop into mind right now. See below for examples and to help you on your way

Major grain of salt time. Cats are expensive and shops will make a ton in the markup and labor on you. In this economy / "uncertain times" they are every bit as hungry as the Stealerships and deserve no less scrutiny. Are you even running a CEL and/or OBDII code thrown? How many miles on the car?

Depends on how @nal your state is with inspections. Here in the DPRC it's tricky. Last two times my car has passed OBDII (stock system) and they don't look under the car, put it on a dyno, or hook up a sniff test. There are "ways" (so I'm told) to get around the dyno and sniffer (typically used here only after a car has previously failed), but if they put it on a lift and find straight pipe (or an untagged, 49-state federal heretic cat) or happen to see you're running an elbow on the second O2 sensor you could be in for an unpleasant wild ride with the People's Republic's authority Karens.

Not sure what they do in PA but rolling up to an emissions inspection station with obvious straight pipes and lots of crackly-pop is not exactly putting you under the radar. If the cat is indeed bad, maybe find a good one on a junker and run a second system for those particular days of the year when you'd prefer other people assume you have a stock system, for whatever reasons of pure modesty of course...

Or, just move to Missouri and run open headers if you like..
