Control arms little loose?

My 04 has about 16k on it now, and lately, I've noticed a slight bump or small thud that get transmitted to the steering wheel when going from a standstill to moving forward while turning. This was always a sign at least on my older BMW that the control arm bearings were getting on in age. Have any of you experienced this feeling through the steering wheel?
