Timing and crank sprocket issue

Hello everyone. I have a 2005 mini cooper s with 105k miles. Was doing timing chain replacement today but was unable to finish due to 2 issues. 1) how do you get the crankshaft sprocket off?? I bought a 3 jaw puller and it keeps slipping off. Is there a special tool or a certain way to remove it? Now to the second and most concerning part, when i removed the cam sprocket i noticed it didnt have the small pin guide to put the sprocket on. Its just a hole. If im not mistaking it should have a small pin which the cam sprocket goes on or am I wrong??? The pin serves as a guide if im correct.
