Turbo Oil Leak?
Turbo Oil Leak?
I have oil on the bottom of my turbo, in the area of my oil return line. The turbo and oil lines had all been replaced under the prior owner at a shop back in January, so I took the car into that shop since they agreed the warranty extended to my ownership.
After inspection, the shop informed me that the oil line (which was new) is not the culprit, but rather it is the used turbo that was installed that is leaking out from where the metal clamp holds it on the hot side. I cannot find many examples of these turbos leaking in the comments.
Would this be a crack inside the turbo, or are there seals in there that might leak? Is it possible I just need a new cartridge? I got a quote for a brand new turbo and oil lines and they came back at $1300 after a labor discount.

Any update on this? I'm curious since my car has started using a little oil. It doesn't seem to be burning it (I pulled the plugs) and isn't leaking as far as I can tell so I'm starting to think about the turbo.
Sorry, no update yet. My time have been taken up by two other cars, but I might try to fit this in soon. I will let you know!
