Hi all,

Today I purchased the 2008 MCS I was looking at over the weekend (17.7k miles), I LOVE it! Before purchasing though, I took it to a mechanic to have it checked out. They said everything looked great... except... they noticed what looked like a little oil under the turbo. They said they did not see how that could be spillage from an oil change, so should have the dealer check it out.

Are our turbos known to weep oil? I am definitely going to have my dealer look at it very soon, just wanted to check here as well.

Thanks,
Maurtis

Of course, I have no idea exactly where he saw the oil, so it may have been something *near* the turbo. This is my first turbo car, so no idea of what all is near there...

AND, if there is an actual oil leak, any way this might not be covered under the warranty?

I have seen the pressure line and the return from the turbo leak but its rare. So are the banjo bolts/crush washers leaking. It should be warranty and if its the pressure or the return line its a few hours to do

it is possilbe for oil to leak from the oil supply line right at the banjo bolt fitting, i had to replace that line twice due to it, it is rare but can happen.

I hope you didn't pay $1100 for this repair. The turbo oil supply pipe is only around $30 and the rest of the parts can probably be had for less than $50 total.

Took my car to the dealership to take care of my laundry list of warranty work to be done, and it turns out that what the oil leak the other mechanic thought he saw ended up being residual oil near the oil filter canister from a previous oil change.

They even put it up on the lift to show me, so looks like the turbo is indeed fine, yay!
