Stock Problems/IssuesDiscussions related to warranty related issues and repairs, or other problems with the OEM parts and software for MINI Clubman (R55), Cooper and Cooper S(R56), and Cabrio (R57).
I am a new owner of a 2008 Mini S with the N14 engine and I just logged a P1497 code. I think I traced it to what appears to be a modified PCV system on this car. At least I have not seen a diagram of such a system on any sites. Can anyone tell me whether this is standard? It looks like the back PCV hose comes out to a manifold made up of rubber hose and plastic T's where each intake manifold port has it's own supply of oil-laden vapor from the line. Well, the first "T" broke off and I now have a leak. Where would I get parts to replace this system? Ideas? This is NOT the standard PCV hose I see for sale on many sites that wraps around to the intake manifold at the bottom!
That's the "cold climate" version of the factory pcv. Look it up on realoem.com
Mine didn’t look like that, it was the oem one from my first post. My mini was a Canadian for it first 7 years, and it had cold weather package. It’s a mini thing is so true sometimes on these.
Not that I want it, but how does this one work? The other one I obviously know how it runs so where does the other part of the t run to?
There was a long thread all about that manifold on here somewhere. I tried looking before I posted, but couldn’t find it. It’s not part of the cold weather package, but a cold climate option that was introduced to help the PCV operation.

was this one of the reason why they had the cold start issue? I remember coming across a thread were the pcv was part of the cold start issue, and this was the second reason why I blocked mine.
It is definitely the Cold Climate version of the intake manifold. (no longer available)
It injects the oil laden vapor right on the valves there, and there ARE too many points of failure as those plastic T's get brittle as mine has. The one I inspected was caked with oily grime.
I will probably plug those off and plug the back port altogether...installing a catch can on the front. That should work ...right?
